Muscat: Oman’s first electronic transport services platform ‘naql’ will reduce hidden trade and monopoly, according to Dr. Ahmed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications. 

Speaking exclusively to The Arabian Stories, soon after launching the new platform on Monday, Futaisi said it will help regulate the transport sector in the country. “This is for the first time such a service is launched in the country and it will help the transport sector to a greater level,” he said. 

According to the Minister, the platform will also achieve fairness and equality in service. “As you can see, some service providers place large investments in transportation equipment, and some do not. This platform will ensure such equality and fairness for all service providers. It will also reduce hidden trade and monopoly in the sector,” Futaisi added. 

The platform will provide information and data in the future to link between service providers and service demanders, which achieves safety and security for users of this sector. Transport platform allows beneficiaries to issue and renew transport registration cards, issue taxi licenses, exceptional cargo permits, and permits for foreign vehicles to transport cargo (between two points or to extend their stay for more than 7 days in the Sultanate).
