MUSCAT : The Royal Oman Police has warned residents against a new wave of fraudulent emails falsely claiming recipients have unpaid traffic fines or outstanding dues.
In an awareness advisory, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said scammers are impersonating official traffic authorities through fake electronic messages that contain suspicious links requesting users to make payments or provide sensitive personal and banking information.
The ROP urged the public not to open unknown links, download suspicious attachments or share confidential information through unverified platforms.

Authorities said such phishing attempts are designed to steal personal data and exploit users financially under the guise of official notifications.
The police also stressed the importance of immediately reporting suspicious emails or cyber fraud attempts to the relevant authorities.
