Indian School Muscat lifts the Ambassador’s Trophy for sports and games

ISM witnessed a mammoth strength of around 1300 enthusiastic participants from different age categories representing 21 Indian Schools across Oman.

MUSCAT: Indian School Muscat brings home the most coveted Ambassador’s Rolling Trophy and the Overall Championship Trophy for the CBSE Oman Cluster Sports and Games Competition 2022-’23. Indian School Al Ghubra was the Runner-up.

A total number of 14 events in sports and games were played in different categories for boys and girls at 9 different venues starting from 4th October 2023, which culminated with the athletic events at Indian School Muscat grounds on 20th and 21st October 2023.

ISM witnessed a mammoth strength of around 1300 enthusiastic participants from different age categories representing 21 Indian Schools across Oman. 

The Embassy of India has launched a new initiative of ‘Ambassador’s Rolling Trophy’ for the promotion of sporting talent in the Indian Schools in Oman, and the School with the highest number of points scored from the different sports and games conducted as part of the CBSE Oman Cluster would lift the Ambassador’s Rolling Trophy. 

His Excellency Shri Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, graced the Valedictory Function as the Chief Guest. He motivated the budding sports stars in his speech by briefing the importance of fitness to lead a healthy lifestyle. 

In his address to the students, His Excellency emphasised the importance of sports vis-à-vis academics in today’s dynamic world. “The notion that education is the sole path to success is no longer cast in stone. Equally importantly, sports is now seen as a worthy companion to good education, as our conception of good education itself has evolved,” he said.

Lauding the remarkable milestone Indian sportspersons achieved in the Asian Games held this year, His Excellency exhorted the students to “dream big and achieve those dreams. Your participation today is a part of a new story that is shaping India’s future in sports.”

He bestowed the proud winners with the Team Championship Trophies, CBSE Oman Cluster Overall Athletics Championship Trophy and the most coveted Ambassador’s Trophy. 

Guest of Honour Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman felicitated the Individual Champions of Under-12, 14, 17 and 19 categories and honoured the high-spirited sportsmen with medals.

Chairman congratulated the contingents from different Schools and their coaches for their unwavering dedication and hard work. In his address to the students, Chairman reflected on the success mantra of Tennis icon Serena Williams – ‘overpower, overtake and overcome’ – and said, “We often encounter challenges that may seem formidable; but by embracing the potent mantra of ‘overpower, overtake, overcome’ we can discover the resilience and resolve needed to conquer any impediment that crosses our path.” 

Mr. Shameer P.T.K, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools Oman had earlier declared the Athletic Meet open and hoisted the CBSE Oman Cluster flag signalling the commencement of the two-day colossal events.

Presence of the Board of Directors, Members of Indian School Muscat Management Committee, Principal Mr. Rakesh Joshi, Principals of other Indian Schools in Oman, Senior Vice Principal Administration, Vice-Principals, Assistant Vice-Principals, Heads of various Departments, teachers, esteemed guests, parents, event coordinators, umpires, coaches from different Indian schools, and the athletes from all Indian schools in Oman joined in the proceedings.

The crowd was thrilled to witness the march past, which was truly a synchronised movement of the sportsman spirit on the ISM field.  The track events, Throw Events, The Jump Events were the highlights of the two– day mega event. Indian School Darsait was the proud host   for the Throw Events.

Curtains fell on the prodigious event instilling the thought of being strong, determined and focused to become a true sportsman. The proud participants and the audience dispersed on a positive note of welcoming another incredible Ambassador’s Trophy and CBSE Oman Cluster Sports and Games Competition, next year.
