Muscat: Students of Indian School Al Ghubra celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on Wednesday, 2nd October 2019.

This year being the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Indian Nation, ‘Gandhi Global Solar Yatra’, a global public movement was organized with the aim of promoting Energy Swaraj or localized energy self-sufficiency for mitigating climate change and ensuring sustainable development. Under the able guidance of Mr. G. Sreekumar- Vice Principal of ISG, the students of Indian School Al Ghubra presented the major events of the freedom struggle led by Gandhiji. A procession of students holding the solar lamps assembled by them and waving the Indian tricolour was accompanied by the School Band playing popular Indian patriotic songs. The mural sculpture set of Mahatma Gandhi lighted up by the solar lamps placed by the students was the centerpiece of the stage and symbolically represented the ‘Gandhi Global Solar Yatra’.

Mr. Ahmed Rayees- President, School Management Committee, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Sunil Katakath- Convener, SMC and Mrs. Pyarija Cidar- Vice Principal ISG-i motivated the students with their presence.
