MUSCAT : The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) signed a land usufruct agreement with the Blue Feeds Company, a jointly formed company between United Fish LLC and Seapride LLC to establish the first Aqua Feed Manufacturing Unit in the Zone over and an area of 20,000 sqm.

The agreement was signed by Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Akaak, Acting CEO of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, and Mohammed Ameen, Executive Director of the Blue Feed Company.
The $20-million project will be established in the Fisheries and Food Industries Zone, which is located near the multi-purpose Fishing Port in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, with a production capacity of 60,000 metric tonnes annually of shrimp and fish feed for the project’s first phase, which can be increased in the future.

It is worth noting that this project supports the government’s efforts towards achieving food security by maximising the yield from the fish wealth that the Sultanate of Oman is rich of, localising the value-added chain of fish products and producing fishmeal and oil.
