MUSCAT: The ministry said the premarital medical examination certificate is an official document confirming that both parties have completed the required medical examinations and received medical advice on their results.
The certificate is issued once the examination results are available and both parties have received medical counselling. Where examinations are conducted outside the Sultanate, the results must be certified by the relevant authorities.
The requirement applies to Omanis planning to marry inside or outside the Sultanate, as well as non-Omanis marrying Omani citizens, regardless of whether the marriage takes place inside or outside the country.

According to the ministry, the certificate includes a unique certificate number, the name of the healthcare institution, its expiry date and details of both parties.
The ministry emphasised that obtaining the certificate after receiving medical advice is an essential step before concluding and documenting a marriage contract.
It also highlighted that premarital screening goes beyond fulfilling an administrative requirement, providing couples with an opportunity to understand potential health risks, discuss the implications of their results with healthcare professionals and make informed decisions before marriage.
