MUSCAT: According to the Ministry of Health, the hospital is being developed on a 428,000-square-metre plot, with a total built-up area of 44,284.62 square metres.
Eng. Yousef bin Yaqoub Ambu Ali, Director General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, stated that the hospital will have a total capacity of 265 beds, including 152 inpatient beds, alongside 84 outpatient clinics.
The facility will provide a broad range of medical services, including emergency and trauma care, radiology, laboratory services, a blood bank, pharmacy and central sterilisation facilities. It will also feature a 16-bed kidney unit, rehabilitation and physiotherapy services, and psychiatric care.
The hospital’s inpatient departments will cover internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology. Specialised facilities will include intensive care units for adults, children, newborns and premature infants, as well as maternity and cardiac services.
The project also includes five operating theatres and their associated facilities, alongside advanced medical imaging services to support diagnosis and treatment.
Supporting infrastructure comprises service buildings, medical warehouses, administrative offices, maintenance workshops and medical equipment facilities. A helipad is also included to enhance operational readiness.

Ambu Ali said the project forms part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, increase capacity and expand access to specialised treatment in line with population needs.
He added that construction was progressing well, with work being carried out in accordance with approved technical specifications and modern healthcare standards, with an emphasis on quality and patient safety.
Once completed, Al Nama Hospital is expected to strengthen healthcare provision in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate and support Oman Vision 2040 objectives to develop an advanced and sustainable healthcare system.
