University of Technology and Applied Sciences tops second E-Sports Championship for University and Higher Education Students

UTAS students secured three of the six available podium positions.

MUSCAT- The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) topped the second E-Sports Championship for university and higher education students in the Sultanate of Oman for 2026. The championship brought together 32 male competitors and 8 female competitors representing 16 universities and higher education institutions from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

UTAS students secured three of the six available podium positions. Sheikha Al Saadi, a student at the University’s Al-Musannah branch, claimed first place in the women’s category, while Sheikha Al Wahibi, from the University’s Muscat branch, secured second place in the same category. Nasser Al Salti, from the Al-Musannah branch, also took second place in the men’s category.

Sohar University secured two positions in the championship, with student Louai Al Saadi winning first place in the men’s category and student Wiam Al Saadi taking third place in the women’s category. Meanwhile, Saud Al Waleed of the University of Nizwa secured third place in the men’s category.

With these results, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences topped the overall championship standings, securing half of the available podium positions. The achievement reflects the capabilities of UTAS students in e-sports and highlights the University’s commitment to nurturing digital talent and enhancing student participation in national competitions.

The Deanship of Student Affairs oversaw the selection and preparation of the participating students, while training was conducted by Hamed Al Shuhi, Sports Supervisor at the University’s Salalah branch, with the support of sports supervisors across the University’s various branches.
