MUSCAT : Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has revised fee payments for a number of services on the Oman Business Platform, allowing applicants to pay a nominal amount upfront and settle the remaining fees after their applications have been processed, the Oman News Agency reported on Saturday.
The change covers Commercial Registry and Commercial Agencies services. Under the previous system, applicants were required to pay all administrative and service fees when submitting their applications.
The ministry said the update aimed to simplify procedures, reduce upfront payment requirements and improve digital services for investors and business owners.

Mubarak bin Mohammed Al-Dohani, the ministry’s Director General of Planning, spokesperson and head of its Digital Transformation Team, said the change formed part of an ongoing programme to redesign services around users’ needs.
The ministry prioritises simplifying procedures before introducing digital solutions, he said. It is also reviewing application processes, reducing steps and requirements, and improving electronic integration between relevant authorities to support Oman’s business environment.
The Oman Business Platform completed 963,549 transactions from January to the end of September 2026, according to ministry figures.
During the same period, 35,907 new commercial registrations were recorded, bringing the cumulative total to 470,516. A further 756 commercial agencies were registered, taking the total to 2,682. The platform also issued 106,577 automatic licences.
Humaid bin Hamad Al Barashdi, Head of the Authentication and Certification Section at the Secretariat of the Commercial Registry and a member of the ministry’s Digital Transformation Team, said the revised payment mechanism followed a review of the application process for commercial registration and agency services.
He said work was continuing to develop the platform’s services and expand automation to reduce manual intervention and speed up processing for investors and business owners.
