WASHINGTON : US President Donald Trump said Iran is seeking an agreement with the United States, adding that he would decide whether Washington would enter negotiations with Tehran.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Iran wanted a deal “quickly and badly”, while indicating that the US remained open to the possibility of talks.
The comments come amid renewed regional tensions and ongoing efforts to find a diplomatic path to ease the conflict involving Iran.

In a separate Truth Social post, Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt attacks on each other’s energy facilities.
“Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian Energy Targets. Russia has agreed to do, likewise!” Trump said.
He also attributed the sharp rise in global diesel prices primarily to the Russia-Ukraine war rather than the conflict involving Iran.
Trump had earlier called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacks on Russian diesel and energy infrastructure, arguing that such strikes were contributing to fuel shortages and rising prices globally.
However, Ukraine has responded cautiously to Trump’s announcement. Zelensky said Kyiv would be ready to halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure if there were firm assurances that Moscow would do the same.
Russia has not yet publicly confirmed the agreement announced by Trump.
