MUSCAT : The total volume of fish landed through artisanal, coastal and commercial fishing reached 468,407 tons by the end of June 2026, compared with 469,175 tons at the end of June 2025, representing a slight 0.2% decline.
The volume of artisanal fishing decreased by 0.3%, reaching 416,683 tons by the end of June 2026, compared with 418,133 tons during the corresponding period of 2025.
Al Wusta Governorate ranked first among the Sultanate’s governorates in terms of fish landed through artisanal fishing, with a total of 149,434 tons, followed by South Al Sharqiyah Governorate with 115,055 tons.

The North and South Al Batinah Governorates together recorded 51,721 tons, followed by Dhofar Governorate with 49,865 tons. Meanwhile, the quantities landed in Muscat Governorate reached 25,995 tons, while Musandam Governorate recorded 24,612 tons.
In contrast, the volume of commercial fishing increased by 1.4% to reach 46,232 tons by the end of June 2026, compared with 45,616 tons during the corresponding period of 2025. The volume of coastal fishing also increased by 1.2%, reaching 5,492 tons, compared with 5,426 tons during the corresponding period of 2025.
By fish species landed through artisanal fishing, small pelagic fish ranked first, with a volume of 206,913 tons, followed by large pelagic fish at 127,831 tons, and demersal fish at 65,194 tons. Other unclassified species followed with 11,389 tons, then sharks with 2,974 tons. Crustaceans and mollusks recorded the lowest volume at 2,382 tons.
