MUSCAT: The seized items included 615 pouches of Pan Bahar smokeless tobacco, 400 cigarette packs of Royal and Manchester brands, as well as a quantity of unlicensed capsules, according to the CPA.
The products, which included smokeless tobacco intended for chewing, were not licensed for distribution or sale in Oman’s markets.
The seizure followed a number of consumer reports that raised concerns about certain commercial establishments in Barka. Consumer protection officers subsequently inspected the establishments and confiscated the prohibited and unlicensed products.
The CPA said the seized goods were placed under its custody and violation reports were issued against the establishments concerned.
