MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will travel to Britain from October 20 to 22 for a state visit hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The visit is expected to highlight the close relationship between Oman and Britain, spanning defence, trade, investment, education, culture and diplomacy, as well as Muscat’s role in regional mediation.

It comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with Oman continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and maintaining channels of communication with Iran.

Oman has also been involved in efforts to support the restoration of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important waterways and a major route for global oil and gas exports.

The October visit follows a private meeting between Sultan Haitham and King Charles at Windsor Castle in July 2025.
