MUSCAT: Oman’s payments landscape is undergoing a rapid transformation under the guidance of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. Through modernized clearing systems, real-time settlement infrastructure, and progressive regulatory frameworks, the CBO has strengthened the foundations of a secure, efficient, and increasingly cashless financial ecosystem.

Digital payments are now widely embedded across consumer, corporate, and public-sector transactions, driven by the growing adoption of mobile wallets, contactless cards, and instant transfers. National initiatives such as the “Maal” payment card and fintech-friendly regulatory sandbox environments continue to enhance interoperability, reduce transaction friction, and accelerate innovation across the financial sector.

Against this backdrop, BankDhofar has emerged as one of the most progressive and digitally advanced banks in the Sultanate, playing a key role in enabling the shift toward a digital-first economy.

On the retail front, the bank has established a strong mobile-first ecosystem, enabling QR payments, instant fund transfers, bill payments, and seamless account management via its mobile application. Early adoption of contactless and tokenised payments — including Dhofar Pay, Tap-to-Pay, and integration with global wallets such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay — has reinforced its leadership in everyday digital payments.

Equally significant is BankDhofar’s advancement in Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) digitisation. Its next-generation Neo Corporate Internet Banking platform enables corporates, government entities, and large institutions to process high-volume bulk transactions, including payroll, supplier payments, collections, and mass disbursements, with enhanced speed, control, and straight-through processing.

A key differentiator is the bank’s API-based and Host-to-Host (H2H) connectivity, allowing seamless integration between corporate ERP or treasury systems and the bank’s payment infrastructure. This enables automated payment initiation, bulk file processing, real-time transaction updates, reconciliation, and reporting — significantly reducing manual intervention and operational risk while supporting 24/7 transaction processing at scale.

BankDhofar has also strengthened its real-time cash management and cross-border payment capabilities, delivering faster settlements, improved liquidity visibility, and greater transparency for businesses operating locally and internationally.

Collectively, BankDhofar’s digital capabilities across retail and CIB — spanning bulk payments, API-driven integration, and real-time processing — position the bank as a key enabler of Oman’s cashless economy ambitions, closely aligned with the CBO’s regulatory vision and the national transformation agenda under Oman Vision 2040.
