MUSCAT : Indian schools across Oman are set to discontinue online classes for their youngest students and return to regular physical classes from Sunday, August 16, following an improvement in weather conditions.

In circulars issued to parents and staff, schools confirmed that Kindergarten to Grade II students will return to classrooms under regular school timings.

“In view of the improving weather conditions, it has been decided to discontinue the online classes for Kindergarten to Grade II and resume regular on-campus classes with effect from Sunday, 16 August 2026,” one circular said.

Parents have also been informed to ensure that children report to school according to their regular timings from Sunday.

The decision brings to an end two weeks of online classes for younger students after Indian schools extended remote learning for Kindergarten to Grade II amid concerns over extreme summer temperatures in Oman.

Schools had initially shifted the youngest students to online learning as a precautionary measure while older students continued attending classes on campus.

The Arabian Stories had earlier reported on concerns raised by parents over the reopening of schools during the peak summer period, particularly for younger children.

With weather conditions now improving, schools have begun informing parents and staff to make the necessary arrangements for the return to classrooms.

Regular physical classes for Kindergarten to Grade II will resume from Sunday, August 16.
