Oman presents sports sector anti-corruption framework at GCC experts meeting

MUSCAT : The 42nd Meeting of the GCC Anti-Corruption Experts Committee is being held virtually on August 11–12, 2026, with the participation of a number of specialists from the Authority.

The meeting is focused on strengthening GCC cooperation and coordinating initiatives to promote integrity and combat corruption across the region.

Key topics on the agenda include the Joint GCC Anti-Corruption Strategy, a review of the Committee’s Guiding Work Mechanism, the GCC Research and Studies Competition on integrity and anti-corruption, and the selection of the theme for the GCC’s annual event in 2027. Participants are also discussing preparations for the 2026 GCC event.

As part of the meeting, the Authority is presenting a paper titled ‘Promoting Integrity and Combating Corruption in the Sports Sector in the Sultanate of Oman’.

The paper examines four main areas: the integrity and governance framework in Oman’s sports sector, mechanisms for preventing corruption, ways to promote integrity values, and practical applications.

It concludes with a set of practical recommendations aimed at strengthening integrity and preventing corruption in the sports sector.
