MUSCAT: Oman’s Ministry of Labour has held discussions with business owners and investors on the challenges facing the private sector, while outlining proposals to modernise the country’s labour system and improve services provided to businesses.
The discussions took place during a meeting chaired by His Excellency Dr Mahad Said Ba’owin, Minister of Labour, at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Dhofar branch.
Held under the theme ‘Strategic Dialogues and Shared Visions with the Private Sector for a Sustainable Labour Market,’ the session brought together business leaders to exchange views on key labour market issues and identify opportunities for closer collaboration between the government and the private sector.

Among the topics discussed were measures to enhance the effectiveness of employment and training programmes for Omani job seekers, strengthen the capabilities of the national workforce, and ensure that education and training outcomes are better aligned with the evolving needs of the labour market and the country’s economic priorities.
The ministry also presented a package of proposals and initiatives aimed at modernising labour regulations, improving the efficiency of labour-related services, and creating a more competitive business environment.
The meeting formed part of the Labour Forum 2026, an initiative designed to deepen engagement with the private sector through direct dialogue, gather feedback from employers, and support the development of a sustainable and responsive labour market in Oman.
