MUSCAT: In a public awareness advisory, the municipality said the sea is a destination for relaxation, while food safety remains the foundation for spending quality time with family and friends without health risks.

The municipality advised beachgoers to plan their meals in advance by preparing only the required quantity of food and checking whether barbecuing is permitted at their chosen beach before setting up.

It also recommended storing perishable food items in insulated cooler boxes with ice to maintain safe temperatures throughout the trip.

When purchasing food, the municipality urged the public to buy only from clean, licensed establishments to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses.

In addition, beachgoers were reminded not to leave food unrefrigerated or exposed to direct sunlight for more than two hours, as high temperatures can encourage bacterial growth and increase the risk of food contamination.
