MUSCAT: The ministry said the awareness campaign aims to improve understanding and utilisation of the entitlement provided under Article 50 of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, issued under Royal Decree No. 92/2025, stressing that the provision is an existing right rather than a new regulation.
The reduced working hours apply to employees and workers with a moderate or severe disability, as well as non-disabled employees or workers who are responsible for the care of a parent, child or spouse with a moderate or severe disability.
To benefit from the provision, employees with disabilities must submit a disability card issued by the Ministry of Social Development confirming their disability classification. Caregivers are required to provide proof of their relationship to the person with a disability, documentation confirming the person’s disability classification, and official evidence showing they have assumed or been entrusted with caregiving responsibilities.
The ministry issued the reminder as part of its Purple Saturday awareness campaign in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, encouraging eligible individuals to understand and make use of the rights guaranteed under Oman’s disability legislation.
