MUSCAT : The new route is expected to strengthen air connectivity between Oman and Tanzania, while supporting growth in tourism, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Engineer Peter Rudolph Ulanga, CEO of Tanzania Airlines, said the launch represents an important milestone for the airline and reflects the growing cooperation between Oman and Tanzania.

He said the direct service would help increase travel between the two countries and provide an opportunity to attract more Omani visitors to Tanzania, highlighting the country’s diverse tourism offerings, including Zanzibar and mainland destinations featuring cultural and historical sites linked to Oman-Tanzania relations.

Ulanga added that the route has received positive interest from travellers travelling from Muscat to Tanzania and onward to other cities in the country and neighbouring states. He described the connection as a promising and sustainable route supported by the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations.

Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Azizi, Chief Corporate Support at Oman Airports, said Tanzanian Airlines will operate three direct flights per week between Muscat International Airport and Tanzania.

He said the new service aligns with Oman Airports’ efforts to expand flight options and destinations from Oman’s airports, adding that the connection will contribute to strengthening economic and social ties between the two countries.

Al-Azizi noted that the Muscat-Dar es Salaam route represents a new link connecting the Gulf region with East Africa and enhances the role of Muscat International Airport as a regional gateway between promising markets.

The launch of the flights further strengthens the longstanding relations between Oman and Tanzania and opens new opportunities in tourism, commerce, investment and cultural exchange between the two peoples.
