Social experts review challenges in divorce and family court cases in Oman

A workshop on “Preparing Social Research for Family Cases in Courts” was held today in Muscat, bringing together specialists to discuss ways to improve the quality of social reports used in divorce and family-related cases.

MUSCAT : Held under the auspices of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Family and Community Development Affairs, the workshop reviewed the key challenges faced by social and psychological specialists while handling family disputes before courts.

Organised by the Supreme Judiciary Council in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, the workshop aimed to develop the skills of specialists in preparing social research, raise professional efficiency, unify concepts and promote the exchange of expertise among the concerned authorities.

The workshop focused on the practical aspects of preparing social research for family cases, including methods of collecting and analysing information, as well as mechanisms for preparing professional social reports that support judicial decision-making.

Participants also exchanged practical experiences on the challenges faced by social researchers in family and social work, particularly in cases involving divorce and family disputes.

The workshop saw the participation of a number of social researchers and specialists from the Supreme Judiciary Council and the Ministry of Social Development.

Officials said the initiative comes within the framework of cooperation and integration between both sides, and reflects their keenness to develop the family justice system and improve services provided to families. It also aims to strengthen the link between judicial and social work in a manner that serves the best interests of the family and society.
