Muscat: Instagram users in Oman and worldwide faced difficulties loading feeds, accessing profiles, posting content and using key app features, according to outage tracking reports. The disruption was also reported across Facebook and Messenger, with users complaining of login failures, partially loaded feeds and error messages on desktop and mobile platforms.
In Oman, outage reports for Instagram rose through the day and peaked around 1pm, with more than 200 complaints recorded at the height of the disruption. In UAE, Dubai and Abu Dhabi were among the areas where users reported the highest number of issues.
The most common complaints users included were problems with the Instagram app, feeds or timelines not loading, and difficulties posting or publishing content. Several users said they were unable to refresh their feeds, upload Stories or access profiles.

The outage was not limited to the region. International reports showed disruptions in several countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil and Germany. Reuters reported that Facebook had received 4,808 user complaints in the United States by 07:46 GMT, with a majority of users facing problems accessing the website.
Some users trying to access Meta platforms on desktop were shown a message saying their account was “temporarily unavailable” due to a site issue and that the problem was expected to be resolved shortly.
The latest disruption comes weeks after Meta was hit by another major outage in June, when Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp users in several countries reported similar problems with logins, feeds and messaging services.
As of the latest update, Meta had not issued an official statement explaining the cause of Sunday’s outage. The company has also not confirmed how many users were affected globally or when services would be fully restored.
Outage trackers rely on user-submitted reports and may not reflect the total number of people affected. However, the sharp rise in complaints indicated a widespread technical disruption across Meta’s major social media platforms.
