MUSCAT : The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, who said the governorate continues to witness the implementation of infrastructure projects that support Oman’s comprehensive development plans and improve services for citizens, residents and visitors.

His Highness Sayyid Marwan highlighted the importance of the Al Mughsail road and bridge project in improving traffic flow and easing access to the wilayats of Rakhyut and Dhalkut, while supporting tourism, economic and social activities in the region.
His Excellency Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamkhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, said the opening marks the completion of the first phase of the project, while remaining works, including aesthetic features and some construction and service components, are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of next year.
The project includes a concrete bridge measuring approximately 540 metres in length, supported by 17 columns and two side pillars with a height of 12 metres. It also features an underground tunnel designed to improve access to nearby tourist attractions, including the Mughsail waterfront and Marneef Cave natural blowholes.
The project further includes parking areas, a pedestrian walkway equipped with lighting ranging from two to seven metres in width, and road safety features such as concrete and metal barriers, directional signs and warning markings in line with approved road design standards in Oman.
