MUCSAT – As part of its #YourRightToKnow awareness series, the centre said seafood is among the most nutritious food products, providing high-quality protein and essential nutrients needed by the body. However, it is also highly perishable and can spoil quickly if not handled and preserved correctly.

The centre advised consumers in Oman to purchase seafood from reliable and trusted sources and ensure that proper refrigeration temperatures are maintained from the point of purchase until transportation.
Consumers were also urged to place fish in a cooler during transport and refrigerate or freeze it immediately after reaching home to maintain freshness and prevent food safety risks.

The Food Safety and Quality Centre said proper handling throughout the supply chain and at home plays a key role in maintaining seafood quality and protecting public health.
