MUSCAT: The Tender Board has approved the completion of the third package of the Al Batinah Expressway project at a value of RO21.74 million, alongside two major new road developments in North A’Sharqiyah and North Al Batinah governorates.

The largest allocation was made for the completion of Package Three of the Al Batinah Expressway, valued at RO21,737,296. The strategic road project forms part of Oman’s wider transport infrastructure programme aimed at improving mobility between key economic and residential areas.

The Board also approved the design and construction of Al Jabal Al Abyad Road in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate at a cost of RO13,500,143. The project is expected to enhance access to mountainous and developing areas, improving connectivity for residents and supporting tourism and economic activity in the region.

In North Al Batinah Governorate, the Board awarded a contract worth RO8,249,537 for the design and construction of a dual carriageway linking the Al Batinah Expressway with Sultan Qaboos Road in Sohar. The new link is expected to improve traffic movement within the governorate and strengthen connections to one of Oman’s most important industrial and logistics hubs.

The approvals were among a series of projects endorsed during the Tender Board’s second meeting of 2026, chaired by HE Dr. Khamis Al Jabri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board. Together, the three road projects represent a total investment of more than RO43.4 million in Oman’s transport infrastructure sector.
