MUSCAT – The Environment Authority, in coordination with the Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, arrested an individual attempting to smuggle endangered Omani spiny-tailed lizards through Muscat International Airport.
The authority said the individual was apprehended while attempting to illegally transport the protected species, which is listed under CITES.
It pointed out that the act constitutes a violation of Oman’s Law Regulating Wildlife Trade, and legal action has been initiated against the suspect in accordance with the country’s environmental protection legislation.

The Environment Authority urged the public to comply with laws and regulations governing wildlife protection and to refrain from trading in or harming endangered species, warning that violations carry legal penalties.
