MUCAT – The exercise was carried out by the municipality’s Electronic Information Security Department in cooperation with the Advanced Cybersecurity Academy Oman, with the participation of 49 employees from Muscat Municipality and Muscat Governorate across relevant departments and sections.
The drill aimed to test the readiness of teams in managing cyber incidents, improve coordination and communication during emergencies, and enhance practical skills in threat analysis, decision-making and crisis response.
The exercise simulated realistic cybersecurity scenarios and potential electronic attacks, allowing participants to assess the effectiveness of existing procedures, policies and response plans in line with international best practices in cybersecurity.

The programme included a tabletop exercise to evaluate decision-making and communication mechanisms during cyber crises, along with a practical simulation to test incident detection, response, containment, recovery and business continuity procedures.
