MUSCAT – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said the Strait of Hormuz has been closed and warned commercial and military vessels against approaching the strategic waterway, stating that their safety could not be guaranteed.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the IRGC Navy said the decision was taken in response to what it described as continued Israeli actions in Lebanon and alleged violations by the United States of commitments made under a recent ceasefire arrangement.
“The Strait of Hormuz is closed, and any vessel approaching the area does so at its own risk,” the statement said, warning that maritime security in the region could be affected.
