MUSCAT – Al Hashami explained that customers can file their electricity outage and fault reports through the toll-free number 1011, where contact centre agents register incidents in an electronic system that immediately forwards reports to field emergency teams.

He pointed out that emergency crews are strategically deployed across Oman’s governorates and wilayats according to population density and geographical coverage, enabling rapid responses to reported incidents.

Once a report is logged, it is automatically transmitted to an emergency response officer through a dedicated device. After the task is accepted, the report is linked directly to the affected account or location, allowing teams to identify the issue quickly and expedite repairs.

Al Hashami said the system also prioritises recurring faults and previously reported cases, helping to improve operational efficiency and reduce response times.

In addition to explaining the outage management process, Al Hashami also urged customers to adopt energy-saving practices to support the continuity of electricity services and reduce household electricity bills.

Among the recommendations is the advice to instal proper insulation for windows, doors and roofs to maintain indoor temperatures and reduce the load on air-conditioning systems.

Customers are also encouraged to set central air-conditioning units at 23 degrees Celsius, a measure that can lower electricity consumption and improve cooling system efficiency.

Al Hashami further recommended leaving adequate space around refrigerators to ensure proper airflow, which can help reduce energy usage and improve appliance performance.
