MUSCAT – His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), discussed opportunities for economic and investment cooperation with Harsha Amarasekera, Chairman of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission, in Sri Lanka.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in special economic zones, free zones and industrial cities, as well as exploring investment opportunities in a number of promising sectors.
Both sides reviewed prospects for partnership in real estate and commercial development projects aimed at supporting economic growth and enhancing investment flows between Oman and Sri Lanka.
The discussions also covered successful experiences in the development and management of special economic zones, with both parties exchanging views on best practices to enhance operational efficiency and improve the competitiveness of economic zones.
The meeting addressed mechanisms to strengthen the business environment and attract high-quality investments. It also explored opportunities to benefit from Sri Lanka’s experience in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a focus on transferring knowledge and exchanging successful practices to foster innovation and increase the sector’s contribution to economic development.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of continuing cooperation and exchanging expertise and knowledge in ways that serve mutual interests and contribute to sustainable economic development.
