Indian Embassy in Oman confirms safe return of 21 MT Settebello crew members after attack near Sohar  

Twenty-one Indian crew members rescued following an attack on the Palau-flagged vessel MT Settebello off the coast of Oman are returning home safely, the Embassy of India in Oman has announced.

MUSCAT – Prior to their departure, His Excellency Prashant Pise, India’s Ambassador to Oman, met with the rescued seafarers, conveyed his best wishes, and praised their resilience during a difficult period. The embassy reiterated its commitment to the welfare and safety of Indian nationals.

According to the embassy, MT Settebello was about 30 nautical miles off the coast of Sohar when the attack took place. The Oman Maritime Security Centre was immediately informed, prompting relevant Omani authorities to launch search and rescue operations.

The coordinated response led to the successful rescue of all 21 Indian crew members aboard the vessel. However, three seafarers lost their lives in the incident.
