Washington: The agreement, announced by senior Iranian and Pakistani officials and later confirmed by US President Donald Trump, is set to be formally signed in Switzerland on Friday.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced on state television that a final agreement with the United States had been reached following intensive negotiations. He said an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, would be declared, while the US naval blockade against Iran would be lifted.

US President Donald Trump also confirmed the development, stating that the deal with Iran was complete. In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump said he had authorised the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade, adding, “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow.”

Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that a peace agreement had been successfully negotiated between Washington and Tehran. According to Sharif, both countries had agreed to permanently terminate military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, with the official signing ceremony scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.

Sharif praised the commitment of both nations to diplomacy and extended thanks to Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye for their roles in facilitating the negotiations. He added that a series of pre-implementation meetings would take place ahead of the signing ceremony to establish the framework for technical discussions and implementation.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported details of a draft 14-point memorandum of understanding said to underpin the agreement. While the provisions have not been officially confirmed by either government, the reported points include a permanent ceasefire, the lifting of the US naval blockade within 30 days, an end to sanctions on Iranian oil and energy exports, and a commitment by Iran not to pursue nuclear weapons.

The reported memorandum also outlines US commitments not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs, avoid imposing new sanctions, and refrain from expanding its military presence in the region. In addition, it reportedly calls for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian arrangements and reconstruction support for Iran valued at no less than $300 billion.

According to Iranian media reports, final negotiations would not proceed until a portion of Iran’s frozen assets is released, oil sanctions are suspended and the naval blockade is lifted. The agreement is also expected to be presented before the United Nations Security Council for approval through a formal resolution.
