MUSCAT : The dual recognition was awarded to the hospital’s Clinical Immunology and Allergy Units for adults and children, in collaboration with its Immunology Laboratory, reflecting the integration of specialised clinical care, advanced diagnostics and scientific research.

The first accreditation came from the World Allergy Organization, which designated the Royal Hospital as a Centre of Excellence. The recognition acknowledges the hospital’s high standards in clinical care, research, education, training and community engagement in the field of allergy and immunology.

The hospital also received accreditation from the Global Allergy and Asthma Excellence Network as a reference Centre of Excellence for Atopic Dermatitis (ADCARE), following two comprehensive external assessments evaluating medical quality standards and treatment protocols.

Dr Iman bint Hamed, Consultant of Immunology and Allergy at the Royal Hospital, told the Oman News Agency that the accreditations reflect the hospital’s compliance with advanced international standards covering clinical care, laboratory diagnostic services, specialised medical expertise and evidence-based practices.

She said the recognitions also demonstrate excellence in education, training and scientific research, noting that the World Allergy Organization accreditation is awarded only to centres that achieve high standards in clinical services, innovation, research output and public awareness initiatives.

Dr Nasr explained that unlike traditional healthcare accreditations, these specialised recognitions focus on an institution’s ability to combine advanced clinical care with research, medical education and innovation in accordance with international best practices.

She said the achievement would benefit patients in Oman by supporting the implementation of the latest global protocols in allergy and immunology care, improving diagnostic accuracy and enabling more personalised treatment plans.
