New York: Oman officially launched the ‘Muscat Plan’ at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The initiative seeks to establish an international framework that empowers religious, traditional and indigenous leaders to play a more active role in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Developed under the auspices of the United Nations, the Muscat Plan focuses on preventing conflicts, countering hate speech and limiting genocide and mass atrocities through mediation, dialogue, peacebuilding and sustainable development efforts.

The framework recognises the unique influence of community and faith leaders in fostering understanding, promoting social cohesion and addressing the root causes of violence before they escalate into larger conflicts.

The launch event brought together representatives from UN member states, international organisations and leading global peacebuilding partners, reflecting broad international support for the initiative and its objectives.
