MUSCAT — Oman will open its first private technical vehicle inspection centre on June 16, marking a significant step towards involving the private sector in the delivery of vehicle inspection services, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.
The move follows a decision by the Inspector General of Police and Customs under Resolution No. 88/2024, which established regulations governing the provision of technical vehicle inspection services.
According to the ROP, the inaugural private inspection station has completed all approval procedures and will begin operations at the premises of the Oman Automobile Association on June 16.

Authorities said the initiative is designed to broaden access to vehicle inspection services by allowing private sector establishments to participate in the sector. The move is expected to increase service capacity, improve accessibility for motorists and offer inspections at a wider range of operating hours.
The ROP said the new model forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance service efficiency and meet growing demand for vehicle inspections across the Sultanate.
