MUSCAT : Three Indian crew members are missing and 21 others have been rescued after a commercial vessel came under attack off the coast of Oman on Wednesday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said.

The ministry identified the vessel as the Settebello and condemned the attack, while confirming that search and rescue operations remain underway.

“We condemn the attack on the commercial vessel Settebello off the coast of Oman,” the ministry said in a statement.

It added that the Indian Embassy in Muscat is “closely monitoring the situation and proactively coordinating with the Omani authorities in the ongoing search and rescue operation.”

The circumstances surrounding the attack were not immediately clear, and authorities have yet to provide details on the nature of the incident or those responsible.

According to Indian officials, 21 crew members were rescued following the attack, while efforts continue to locate the three missing Indian nationals.
