MUSCAT : Held from April 26 to June 10, 2026, the programme brought together graduates from scientific and engineering disciplines, along with entrepreneurs interested in sustainability and renewable energy. The initiative focused on introducing participants to the fundamentals of hydrogen, its role in the global energy transition, and its contribution to decarbonisation efforts.
The programme also sought to deepen participants’ understanding of energy sustainability and efficiency, while highlighting the importance of integrating renewable and conventional energy sources within a balanced energy mix. Through workshops, case studies and interactive discussions, participants explored practical solutions in sustainable energy, hydrogen technologies and emissions reduction.
Organisers said the programme was designed to foster innovative thinking and encourage participants to develop practical projects and initiatives that can contribute to Oman’s growing sustainability sector. It also aimed to bridge the gap between theory and practice by exposing participants to local, regional and international experiences, while preparing young talent for future employment opportunities in the energy industry.

Saif bin Khalfan Al-Sawafi, one of the participants, described the programme as a valuable learning experience that enhanced his understanding of green hydrogen, solar and wind energy, as well as carbon reduction strategies.
“The programme strengthened my knowledge of clean energy applications and their relevance to Oman’s industrial and economic landscape. It also helped develop my analytical and future-thinking skills through interactive workshops and discussions with specialists,” he said.
Al-Sawafi added that the experience reinforced the importance of innovation and sustainability in supporting the goals of Oman Vision 2040. He noted that the programme inspired him to pursue research focused on the role of youth and innovation in advancing sustainable energy, work that will contribute to a paper he plans to present at the ADIPEC 2026 Conference in Abu Dhabi.
Participant Nasra bint Mohammed Al-Jahouri said the programme provided both academic and practical value, particularly in strengthening her expertise in environmental sciences.
She explained that the training enhanced her understanding of environmental solutions while improving her ability to connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications. She also highlighted the opportunity to develop project ideas that could be implemented in collaboration with relevant authorities.
“The teamwork element of the programme played a significant role in improving the quality of outputs through collaboration, idea-sharing and collective problem-solving,” she said.
The Youth Center and Sohar Port and Free Zone said their partnership will continue to deliver high-quality programmes that empower young people, enhance their capabilities and align their skills with labour market demands and the development priorities of the Sultanate of Oman.
