Muscat: At the outset of the meeting, His Excellency welcomed the governors and commended their efforts in advancing the local development process across the Sultanate. He stressed the importance of continuing these efforts to support sustainable growth and enhance services in the governorates.
A major topic on the agenda was the upcoming launch of His Majesty the Sultan’s Award for the Development of the Governorates, which is expected to be introduced in the coming period. The award is aimed at encouraging excellence and innovation in local development initiatives across Oman’s governorates.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of marriage support funds established in the governorates as part of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s commitment to promoting social stability. The Minister emphasized the need to assess the achievements of the initiative, monitor its performance indicators, and evaluate its impact to ensure it continues to meet its intended objectives in the next phase.

In addition, the governors discussed the annual work plans of municipal councils and explored ways to further develop their operations. The discussions focused on enhancing the efficiency of municipal work, improving service delivery, and supporting the broader development goals of the Sultanate.
