MUSCAT : Oman is expected to experience a fresh spell of intense summer heat beginning Monday, June 8, with temperatures in some areas forecast to approach the 50°C mark, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre said temperatures are set to rise across coastal regions overlooking the Sea of Oman over the coming days. Forecasts indicate that maximum temperatures will range in the mid-to-high 40s Celsius, with some locations potentially nearing 50°C.
The authority noted that other governorates across the Sultanate are also expected to record temperatures in the mid-40s, while weather conditions will remain relatively more moderate in the coastal areas of Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.

Meteorologists attributed the heatwave to the influence of an upper-level high-pressure system dominating the region, combined with dry northwesterly winds and other atmospheric factors that contribute to a sharp rise in temperatures.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during midday hours, and to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Residents are also urged to follow weather updates and official advisories issued by the CAA.
