MUSCAT – The Fund said the adoption of Theqa makes it one of the first institutions in the Sultanate to implement the national digital trust framework, enabling beneficiaries to access services, complete transactions and sign documents electronically through a secure and legally recognised platform.

According to the Fund, the move is aimed at enhancing service reliability, raising cybersecurity standards and simplifying procedures for beneficiaries by reducing paperwork and in-person visits. The integration allows users to verify their identities digitally, access electronic services securely and use certified electronic signatures that carry the same legal standing as handwritten signatures.

Theqa serves as a secure digital identity solution that functions as a digital civil ID, enabling authentication for online services and the execution of official transactions and electronic records. The system is designed to provide greater protection for personal data while allowing users to verify electronically signed documents and safeguard them against tampering.

The Social Protection Fund highlighted several benefits of the digital identity platform, including the ability to access services anytime and from anywhere, complete transactions without the need for SIM-card-based verification, save time and costs, and authenticate identities without visiting service centres.

As part of its awareness efforts, the Fund has also encouraged beneficiaries to consult the Theqa application guide, which outlines the registration process, digital identity activation procedures, steps for upgrading to a high-assurance level and the various uses of the digital identity platform.
