MUSCAT : The agreement was signed by Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi, Director General of Khoula Hospital, and Omar bin Mohammed Al-Farsi, Director General of Al Yusr Charity Foundation.
The establishment of the integrated lung disease unit aligns with the health sector’s vision of achieving “leading and sustainable health for all” and supports the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. It aims to enhance specialised healthcare services in respiratory medicine, expand service capacity, and improve the quality of medical care provided to patients in the Sultanate of Oman.

The new pulmonary unit will provide an integrated system for diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases under one roof, including bronchoscopy services, respiratory function tests and sleep disorder diagnostics.
It will also feature advanced medical technologies in line with global standards, with services supported by specialised medical staff from Khoula and Al Nahda hospitals, ensuring comprehensive diagnostic and treatment care.
Dr. Al Alawi said the project represents a strategic step in developing specialised medical services and enhancing the use of modern technologies in diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases in line with international best practices. He noted that the unit is expected to become operational at the beginning of next year, contributing to improved patient services, reduced waiting times and higher standards of specialised care.
He added that the establishment of the unit goes beyond providing modern equipment, representing a qualitative advancement in healthcare delivery by improving diagnostic accuracy, accelerating treatment procedures and reducing complications, which will positively impact patient safety and care quality.
He further said the partnership with Al Yusr Charity Foundation reflects integration between the public and community sectors, supporting national capabilities, expanding specialised services and strengthening the healthcare system’s readiness.
For his part, Omar bin Mohammed Al-Farsi said the initiative is part of the foundation’s health sector support programmes, reflecting its social responsibility and continued efforts to enhance medical services and meet patient needs.
