Muscat: The two 12-year-old Omani characters were unveiled as a key component of NCSI’s communication strategy for 2026–2030, which focuses on modernising institutional communication and making statistical concepts more accessible to different segments of society, particularly younger generations.
Designed to reflect Omani values, culture, and identity, Mazen and Muzna will serve as educational ambassadors, helping children understand the importance of data through digital publications, videos, educational activities, smart applications, and other interactive tools. The initiative seeks to simplify complex statistical concepts in a way that is both entertaining and easy to understand.
According to NCSI, the development of the characters was guided by the institution’s core values of partnership, accessibility, professionalism, knowledge management, and transparency. Their names were carefully selected to reinforce the initiative’s educational message. “Mazen” is associated with rain-bearing clouds symbolising goodness and generosity, while “Muzna” refers to a cloud filled with rain, representing abundance and growth.

Together, the names reflect the role of information and data in enriching knowledge and supporting informed decision-making. The centre believes these symbolic meanings align closely with its mission to promote statistical awareness among children and the wider community.
The character designs also incorporate cultural and educational considerations, drawing inspiration from the Omani environment while ensuring the content remains age-appropriate, easy to understand, and capable of fostering positive values, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Through this initiative, NCSI aims to strengthen children’s interest in numbers and data by presenting them in a format that combines learning with entertainment. The project is expected to support Oman’s digital transformation efforts while contributing to the development of a generation that understands the importance of information in understanding society and shaping the future.
