Heat intensifies across Oman with Barka emerging hottest at 46.7°C

Civil Aviation Authority says several parts of the Sultanate crossed 45°C over the past 24 hours amid intense summer heat.

MUSCAT — Oman witnessed extremely hot weather conditions over the past 24 hours, with Barka recording the highest temperature in the Sultanate at 46.7°C, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The latest meteorological data released by the CAA showed that several wilayats across Oman experienced temperatures above 45°C on Wednesday as the summer heat intensified across the country.

Al Rustaq recorded the second-highest temperature at 46.2°C, followed by Al Suwaiq at 46.0°C and Wadi Al Maawil at 45.8°C.

Other areas that recorded high temperatures included Nakhal at 45.7°C, Sohar at 45.5°C, Bidbid at 45.4°C, Al Amerat and Al Kamil wa Al Wafi at 45.3°C each, while Fahud and Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan both registered 45.1°C.

The readings were collected from meteorological stations operated by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Authorities continue to advise residents to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated and follow heat safety precautions as temperatures remain high across much of the Sultanate.
