MUSCAT : The ministry, represented by its General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, stressed that only medical reports and fitness certificates issued by physicians listed on its approved register will be accepted, warning that certificates from unapproved doctors or medical practitioners will not be recognised.
It further pointed out that the requirement is part of efforts to regulate maritime employment procedures and ensure compliance with approved health and safety standards for seafarers operating in the Sultanate.
The approved list includes authorised physicians across multiple governorates in Oman, including Muscat, Sohar, Duqm, Sur, Salalah, and Al Musannah, along with their contact details and locations.
The ministry added that the updated list of accredited doctors is available through its official channels and will be used as the sole reference for issuing valid medical fitness certificates for seafarers.
