MUSCAT : The four-hour procedure was carried out using an endoscopic transnasal technique without external surgical incisions, in a coordinated effort involving specialists from ear, nose and throat (ENT) and ophthalmology departments at Al Nahda Hospital, alongside a neurosurgery team from Khoula Hospital.
Hospital officials said the case reflects a high level of medical integration between national health institutions and highlights growing expertise in managing complex oncological and skull base conditions in Oman.

The patient is currently in stable condition and under medical follow-up as part of an approved treatment and rehabilitation plan.
Dr. Al Yaqdhan bin Sulaiman Al Ghafri, Director of Al Nahda Hospital, said the achievement demonstrates the advanced capabilities of national medical teams in handling highly delicate surgical cases, noting ongoing efforts to strengthen specialised services and adopt advanced medical technologies in line with global standards.
He added that integrated work between medical specialties remains central to improving treatment outcomes and enhancing the efficiency of healthcare delivery.
Senior Consultant ENT surgeon Dr. Jinan bint Ahmed Al Abdawani said the case was particularly complex due to the tumour’s extension into critical anatomical areas, requiring precise planning and advanced endoscopic techniques to ensure complete removal while preserving surrounding vital structures.
She said endoscopic transnasal surgery has become a key advancement in treating tumours of the nose, sinuses, and skull base, offering a minimally invasive approach that reduces complications, bleeding, hospital stay, and recovery time, while avoiding external scars.
