Oman’s EA cleans coral reefs in Daymaniyat Islands, removes 2.5 tonnes of marine waste

The Environment Authority (EA) in South Al Batinah Governorate has carried out a coral reef cleaning campaign in the Dimaniyat Islands Natural Reserve, removing nearly two and a half tonnes of waste and entangled fishing nets from several marine sites.

MUSCAT : The campaign aimed to protect coral reefs and marine organisms from environmental damage caused by accumulated debris and abandoned nets, which pose a threat to marine biodiversity and ecosystems.

According to the authority, the operation covered multiple locations within the reserve and forms part of ongoing environmental efforts to preserve Oman’s marine habitats and maintain ecological balance in protected coastal areas.
