MUSCAT : The municipality said the measure involved placing an ‘immediate violation notice’ for fixed structures erected outside property boundaries without a permit or title deed, stressing that the action does not prevent the vendor from selling kebabs or operating his business at the site, where he had previously worked from a kiosk without restriction.

It added that the notice included a five-day grace period for the vendor to visit the Shinas Municipality and complete the required procedures. However, the citizen did not comply within the specified timeframe.

According to the municipality, field teams later contacted and met with the vendor to explain the procedures, and it was agreed that the cause of the violation would be removed. The municipality will also carry out levelling and preparation works at the site, which was affected by recent wadi flows during adverse weather conditions.

The authority pointed out that the measures fall within its mandate to regulate public space use and ensure compliance with urban planning regulations, while maintaining support for business owners.
