MUSCAT : The service enables medical staff to quickly and securely access pilgrims’ health data when needed.

The initiative aims to enhance the healthcare system and ensure the highest levels of safety for pilgrims during Hajj.

The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sulaiman bin Nasser Al Hajji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs.

The initiative is part of the Ministry’s efforts to advance digital transformation in health services and strengthen the concept of “sustainable health as the pilgrim’s first companion,” through Hajj QR code technology. The system allows pilgrims to store their medical history and health data in a unified and organized format for secure access during the performance of rituals.

The ‘International Patient Summary’ service is distinguished by its ability to facilitate and expedite access to basic medical information for pilgrims when needed. After obtaining the pilgrim’s consent, healthcare professionals can view a concise, standardised health record by scanning the QR code, supporting faster and more accurate clinical decision-making and improving the efficiency of care delivery.

The Ministry of Health has called on all pilgrims to register at the “Hajj Clinic” via the “Shifa” application to ensure their health data is updated and the service is activated. It stressed that prior digital and health readiness is a key enabler for a safe and smooth Hajj journey.
