MUSCAT- The initiative enables students to pursue higher education at a number of prestigious international universities.
The sponsorship reflects OQ Group’s commitment to supporting the development of national talent equipped with the skills and knowledge required for a knowledge-based economy. It also builds on a long-term partnership between OQ and Takatuf Oman aimed at strengthening human capital through educational and professional pathways aligned with labour market needs and ongoing economic transformation.
Engineer Ali bin Mohammed Al Lawati, Chief People & Technology Officer at OQ, said investing in national talent is a key pillar of the company’s long-term strategy. He noted that through the ‘Oman Pioneers’ programme, OQ continues to provide education and development opportunities that prepare national cadres to meet future challenges and support the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The programme contributes to building national intellectual capital by equipping Omani students with advanced scientific skills and global academic exposure. Participants study disciplines aligned with national priorities under Oman Vision 2040 and gain experience in international research and academic environments, supporting the growth of the knowledge economy and strengthening national scientific capabilities.
Since its launch, the programme has supported 122 male and female students through OQ and its subsidiaries. Of these, 67 graduates currently work within the OQ Group, while 10 are employed in institutions outside the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting the programme’s role in developing competitive national talent across multiple sectors.
