MUSCAT : During a media briefing, Her Excellency Dr. Jokha bint Abdullah Al Shukaili, President of the Authority, said the organisation continues to play its national role in leading education quality assurance in Oman in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
She said the Authority’s work includes establishing national quality assurance systems, evaluating school performance, ensuring the quality of higher education institutions and academic programmes, overseeing the national qualifications framework, and developing national measurement, assessment and professional licensing systems for educational institutions.
According to Her Excellency Dr. Al Shukaili, the Authority completed the evaluation of 100 public and private schools last year and published 58 evaluation reports on its official website.
She added that institutional accreditation results included 22 accredited higher education institutions, three institutions granted conditional accreditation and two institutions placed under observation. Several academic programmes were also accredited under programme accreditation activities.
Her Excellency Dr. Al Shukaili further noted that the national qualifications framework now includes the alignment and inclusion of 21 academic and professional qualifications, alongside the establishment of a national database covering academic, professional, technical and vocational qualifications.
She said the initiative enhances the credibility of Oman’s qualifications system and supports alignment with international standards, strengthening the country’s education and workforce development framework.
